ABCD Autumn Meeting

9th and 10th November 2016
This year's Autumn Meeting will commence with a joint BES-ABCD day on Wednesday 9th November, followed by the ABCD meeting on Thursday 10th November. The meeting will finish on Thursday evening, and will include a sponsored symposium that has attracted considerable interest. The new format will satisfy the demand for good quality endocrinology and diabetes updates without having to travel to different places. Accreditation by the RCP London has been sought for this meeting (6 CME points).

Abstracts
You are invited to submit an abstract of no more than 250 words, for the Autumn Meeting. Abstracts should be for a poster on any subject which might be of interest to members of the Association - diabetes, endocrinology or general medicine.
- Authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to display their work in the form of a poster at the meeting on 10th November, and those meeting the criteria for publication will be published on the ABCD and BJD websites.
- The top 10 abstracts will be published in full in the BJD (subject to meeting the criteria for publication).
- The top 2 abstracts submitted by SpR’s will be invited to present their work as a short oral communication at the Autumn Meeting. These will be judged by a panel on the day and the 'ABCD Best Research Travel Grant' (to be administered by ABCD) will be awarded to the winner to support the presentation of the researchers' work at a major international meeting. eg. ADA. (Note: This is separate to the ABCD SpR Training Award which is presented at the SpR meeting, and although you may submit your work for both meetings you can only win one award).

Successful authors will be notified by 15th September 2016.
4th Niru Goenka Lecture
Submissions are invited from ABCD members appointed to their first consultant post within the last 10 years to give the 4th annual Niru Goenka Lecture at the Autumn Meeting. The remit of the lecture is to showcase pioneering work in managing diabetes across primary and secondary care. An honorarium, generously donated by the Goenka family, will be awarded. Submissions will be judged by the executive committee of ABCD - please send them to russell.drummond@ggc.scot.nhs.uk .
The closing date for submission is Friday 9th September 2016.
The successful candidate will be informed as soon as possible after this.
