Carol Davies Macmillan Lung Cancer Nurse Specialist, Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny. Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Wales.
Carol has worked as a Macmillan Lung Cancer Nurse Specialist since 2003. It was a new post which she had the opportunity to develop. Carol proudly leads the lung cancer nursing team within Nevill Hall Hospital, working with and in partnership with the proactive team and enthusiastic MDT colleagues.
Patients are seen pre diagnosis, at diagnosis, during treatment, at oncology, respiratory and nurse led clinics; supporting patients throughout their lung cancer pathway.
Carol regularly attends and contributes to lung cancer meetings at local and national levels and has represented the Health Board at international meetings. She is a forum member and past chair of the All Wales Lung Cancer Forum.
Special interests include Lung Cancer Patient experience, communication skills, quality of life issues, and patient stories. She was honoured when asked to present a poster presentation at World lung in Denver 2016. Although daunting it was an incredible opportunity to share a patient’s experience of living with mesothelioma diagnosis with a world audience.
Carol has been a NLCFN forum member since 2004 and was thrilled to join the committee in 2012. Being a part of this great forum has enhanced her confidence, her professional development and influenced service development. Carol is NLCFN representative for NICE, UKLCC & AWLCF.
